Kit is the joyful girl you see smiling on the Chimera Standard Schnauzers website banner. Kit is my first Standard Schnauzer and she is a wonderful, wonderful dog. Kit is very smart, loving, loyal, patient, funny and enthusiastic. A dedicated watch dog, Kit takes herself and her various activities very seriously. In spite of her serious heart, Kit is hilarious and quite the goofball. She makes for an adorable package. I think of Kit as a Schnauzer version of a screwball comedy heroine: she's beautiful and she approaches life earnestly, blissfully unaware that others find her antics endearingly hilarious.
Kit was my first show dog. She patiently endured my show grooming learning curve and, together, we learned the ins and outs of the dog show world. It can be difficult to show a natural-earred Standard Schnauzer to a conformation championship in the U.S. I am proud to say that when Kit finished her AKC championship, she had earned 3 majors, 2 of them against large, very competitive entries: one major at the International Kennel Club show in Chicago (a large and very prestigious show and one of the few remaining benched shows in the U.S.) and a 4 pt major at the Kentuckiana Cluster in Louisville, one of the largest clusters of shows in the U.S.
Kit is a large and striking Standard Schnauzer. At 19inches, Kit is at the top of the height limit for females and with her lovely long neck and beautifully balanced head with superb muzzle length, she cuts a statuesque figure. Kit has the substance necessary to compliment her height, with strong, solid bone, wonderful rib spring and a beautiful forechest. Topping all of this is a lovely, harsh coat. Moving, Kit is balanced and true, covering ground easily and efficiently.
Kit was bred by Lori Elvin of Canada's Dinsdale Standard Schnauzers. Kit's mother, CKC Ch. Dinsdale Silver Charm, is a tall and striking Schnauzer like Kit and Kit's sire, AKC/CKC Ch. Cortaillod Laredo, won Best of Breed at the Standard Schnauzer Club of Canada National Specialty. See Kit's pedigree
Kit has an incredible nuturing instinct for people and pups. She was an unbelievably dedicated mother for her two litters, one all Pepper & Salt and one all Black, allowing the pups to nurse and cleaning up after them until the pups went to their new homes at 8 weeks. The owners report that the pups were extremely easy to house train and have excelled in obedience training. I like to think that some of that is due to the phenomenal work of supermom, Kit.
